London peace walking tour

Look beyond the war memorials and discover peace related sites in central London

London has many memorials to its military history both commemorating famous victories such as Trafalgar Square or millions of war dead such as the Cenotaph. But London also has a lesser known peace history including peace negotiations, peace campaigners, anti-war demonstrations and organisations that promote peace and international cooperation.

This tour of Westminster includes a selection of locations which illustrate London’s links to peace, including:

Lancaster House – where several peace negotiations have been hosted,
St James’s Palace – site of the Round Table Conferences on the future of India,
Chatham House – associated with two Nobel Peace Prize winners,
Trafalgar Square – location of anti-war demonstrations for almost two centuries,
Parliament Square – scene of a long running peace camp,
Westminster Abbey – memorial to another Nobel Peace Prize winner.
