King Charles 3rd was crowned as King of the United Kingdom and his other realms on Saturday 6th May. The Coronation is a unique event that unites the Sovereign, church, state and people through ancient ceremonies that are little changed in almost a thousand years. Come on a walking tour that highlights all aspects of King Charles’s special day. Hear stories of the traditions, the costumes, the regalia and everything else that formed part of a memorable day.
Each tour is hosted by one of Excellent Walks of London’s team of Royal experts who are all qualified Westminster guides. Your guide will help you understand the intricacies of this historic day. Among the places you will see on this tour are:
- Buckingham Palace, King Charles’s splendid royal palace
- Clarence House, King Charles’s home while he’s in London
- St James’s Palace where Charles was proclaimed King last year
- Horse Guards Parade where King Charles reviews his royal guards
- The Banqueting House where another King Charles was executed
- Westminster Hall the site of ancient Coronation banquets
- Westminster Abbey where King Charles was crowned on 6th May
Each tour starts at Green Park station (meeting at the Diana statue in Green Park) and ends by Westminster Abbey, a 5-minute walk from Westminster station. The tour is step-free and suitable for guests with limited mobility. It’s suitable for adults and older (12+) children. Dogs are also welcome.
